How To Save During Holiday Sales

Wondering how to be nice to your wallet? Keep your home stylish while also saving money -- learn how here!

Just like when stores are getting rid of their winter clothes to make room for spring and summer trends, home décor stores must do the same! You'll often see discounts during January and February. So, what is the wisest way to shop so you can save?

Holiday gems at discount prices are often hiding away in the sales section once festivities end. Stores need to unload inventory, and so you can stock up on higher end pieces (like the ones I'll share from Anthropologie below) at lower prices.

Find what you need for less using my 3 quick tips for industrial holiday design and discounts below!

Note: None of these products are commissioned. This is purely for inspiration and a creative outlet :) .

Tip #1: Mark Your Calendars

It may seem like a simple tip, but how often do we panic buy? To reduce the sense of urgency, pencil your favorite sales in. That way, you won't miss them and can plan to save during with winter months on things you want and need.

Tip #2: Keep A Running List

It's so easy to forget that a string of lights went out or that you don't have a dedicated Christmas plate for Santa...until you open up your storage the next Christmas season and suddenly have a list of to-do's you forgot about 😅.

Most of the items I bought during Christmas and post-holiday sales were things I had written down during the season to keep an eye on. I'm prone to be an impulse shopper, so this helps me keep track of things I actually need or will use during the next year.

Tip #3: Have a Storage Solution On Hand

Don't forget you'll need a place to put new items you buy! Have a system set up to account for your new buys that won't be used immediately.

If you don't know where to start, I've got some helpful tips in the article 3 Tips For Cleaning Up Christmas Clutter. Frantic storage problems can make you spend unwanted dollars on last-minute solutions. It's better to have something already set up to store your discount deals!

Items We Saved On From Anthropologie

Anthropologie is known for their higher prices and handcrafted items. We don't shop there regularly, but I almost always hit up their holiday sale!

Here are some the holiday savings we snagged for next year. I love how each piece balances beauty and utility -- a hallmark we are honing in on in terms of the industrial style in our home.

A great way to make sure you get your money's worth is to pick pieces that are multifunctional, such as the washi tape or salt and pepper shakers featured below. I can't wait to use these items later this year when Christmas rolls around again!

Tell me what you saved on this year (or what you are planning on saving on 😊)! Catch up with us on Instagram @homeweekshome.
