Looking for a star-spangled craft that costs under $5? Find out how to make these easy 3D stars here!

We've been sick for the past few weeks, so shopping has not been on the schedule. Luckily, rest and crafts have helped to keep stress at bay -- and made our house look more festive, too!

Learn how to make these Dollar Store 3D stars in just a couple steps (and for under $5). They are perfect for a last-minute 4th of July DIY 🤩.

Step 1: Select your stars.

The first step is to find your stars, and select your desired colors. I got these three packs of five foil stars each for under $4.

Step 2: Decide to use 4 or 5 stars.

The next step is to decide whether you want to use four or five stars for your 3D shapes. I suggest using a mix of both -- it will only cause a small difference in the final shapes that will add a bit of dimension when the stars are placed together.

Step 3: Add a hole for hanging.

The next step is to punch a hole in the top of each star. This is for hanging later on.

Step 4: Fold each star in half.

Fold the star in half. I find holding a ruler at the middle of the star can help you get the fold exactly right!

Repeat this step with each of the stars.

Step 5: Use tape to attach the stars.

Use two to three pieces of tape to attach the back half of each star to the others.

See the image below for what the finished product should look like when you are done attaching each star to one another.

Step 6: Finally, tie together for hanging.

Lastly, weave twine, yarn, ribbon, or another material of choice together (between the holes you punched earlier) for the purpose of hanging your stars.

Here is the exact twine I use and love for home décor projects, although I was able to score it for $0.50 on major sale at a craft store!

Here's what they look like hanging in our entryway:

I just tied them directly to the bar underneath our entryway table. Although it is out of stock/unavailable (so I can't link it here), I would definitely suggest some sort of floating top console table for easy decoration access.
